Workshop Training Agenda

Research increasingly correlates college and career success with the development of a specific set of life skills prior to beginning college.  Critical thinking skills, organization and motivation strategies, emotional intelligence, tools for stress and emotional management, self-awareness and self-monitoring, creativity and  problem solving are among these requisite skills.

Our training agenda is designed to provide students an opportunity to immerse experientially into a set of heuristic life skills designed specifically to remediate this documented shortfall in key areas of academic and career readiness.

Beyond our initial training, we utilize this agenda to empower students to continually evolve these skills into a growing set of tools they will need to successfully meet increasingly complex and demanding life challenges.

1.  Method, Motive, Opportunity

Building a systematic approach to getting the big picture of problem solving,  goal setting,  organization, and motivation.

2.  Magic Words and The stories I tell Myself

A primer in the mechanics and power of your spoken words and inner dialogue to effect mood, motivation, and behavior.

3.  Harnessing the Power of Recursions

How the self-defeating patterns of your behaviors can be modeled, predicted, and re-shaped.

4.  That Feeling Thing:  The Heuristics of Emotion

Learning to overcome the unique ADHD based challenges by attaining emotional intelligence, self-awareness,  and emotional management skills.

5.  Beliefs

Attuning academic self-concept to support successful goal attainment.

6.  The Stress Wagon

Monitoring and managing stress and making it work to your advantage.

7.  Life is a Balancing Act

The art and craft of understanding your personal “span of apprehension”, deciding what is most important, and designing academic life around this knowledge - Learning to inventory and balance all of the elements academic life requires you to juggle.

8.  The Dreamer, Realist, Critic and the Heuristics of Genius

Accessing your capacity to improve creativity, executive function skills, and  critical thinking skills; and use them to create, critique, and execute plans for success.

9.  The Success Curve

Learning the critical skills of self monitoring  utilizing a dynamic model for observing progress, noting recurring patterns of failure and success, and developing alternative behaviors for maintaining success.

10.  Career Development

Since college might not guarantee a meaningful career, how do you create yours? An assembly of tools for beginning career development from day one of college.
